What dis is?

After 10-ish years of  day-dreaming about it, I’m doing it. Here’s all the gadgets, gizmos and gallantry I’m eye-balling as I get ready to go.  Updated whenever I need to think outloud.

Hi, there. I found your site via the Alchemy mailing list.

Last year was my first year. Like you, I had been putting it off for years. Mostly I had a lot of logistical questions that I couldn’t find answers to. Two years ago I worked a project in Reno where half the staff was just back from Burning Man. They answered all my questions and I finally went. I had an incredible time and there is not one single day that I don’t think about Burning Man.

So, if there’s anything I can do to help you plan your trip, let me know.

Congrats on your first year! This will be my 14th, unbelievably. A tip for you: If you want to eat like you’re in civilization but don’t want to futz with prep, definitely look at cooking food, freezing it in a bag, then boil it in a pot of water on the playa. If you want to eat like you’re eating out, buy pre-prepared food (Playa Provisions!) from Gastronaut (http://bit.ly/kvHKNN). My friend works there and so I got to try it out, it totally eliminates the guesswork and you’re not reliant on nitrate-ridden coldcuts, which is what I did on my first burn. There’s no way you can prep that kind of food yourself for that cost, and it gives the opportunity to offer a great meal to the cute burner virgin who you may want to undergo a rite of passage with.

This message will self destruct right about now.
