A must-read added to my library list…

More “myths” about introverts,

“Introverts are people who are over-sensitive to Dopamine, so too much external stimulation overdoses and exhausts them. Conversely, Extroverts can’t get enough Dopamine, and they require Adrenaline for their brains to create it. Extroverts also have a shorter pathway and less blood-flow to the brain. The messages of an Extrovert’s nervous system mostly bypass the Broca’s area in the frontal lobe, which is where a large portion of contemplation takes place.”

Ah, I love it when science explains shit. I’m an introvert, therefore sensitive to dopamine. Perhaps that’s why I just never could really tolerate smoking, much. Or uppers. I’ve also not got a so-called “addictive personality;” is dopamine responsible for these things? Interesting.  There’s way more reading and hypothesizing than I’m interested in musing on, right now.

Some of my favorites from the linked-to list:

Myth #2 – Introverts are shy.
Shyness has nothing to do with being an Introvert. Introverts are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don’t interact for the sake of interacting. If you want to talk to an Introvert, just start talking. Don’t worry about being polite.

Also, extroversion can be learned. It is just something you force yourself to do. And, the more you do it and realize people are glad you did it, and it’s not the end of the world, the easier it gets.

My strategy: Life is a stage. We are the players. So, pick a role and act it out. The world is your setting, your wardrobe, your mise en scene. Use it.

Myth #3 – Introverts are rude.
Introverts often don’t see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. They want everyone to just be real and honest. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable in most settings, so Introverts can feel a lot of pressure to fit in, which they find exhausting.

How interesting is it that so many of Us think of ourselves as shy? In the “things I want to do but didn’t or will do this year etc.” thread, the majority of posts involve social interaction. People wanting to walk up and talk to strangers but being too “shy” to do so. This is why BM is such a Home to so many of us introverts. It nearly mandates honesty (immediacy) and realness (pretty much all of them!). There is no pressure to fit in (radical inclusion, radical self-expression). Therefore, BM is a fantastic place for introverts.

Also, these candies could be fun,

about 75 different “tutti frutti” moustache shapes for five bucksish. But no idea what’s in them. Out of stock but

I like how they list cornbread and cheese logs as options. Sparklypony Lounge and Piano Bar was a hit, I tell ya, a hit! All costumes, glitter and further accoutremont were gone by Sunday!! And, the dome was still covered in playa dust from 2009, so that was fun for people who keep hearing about it but have never touched it. One of my favorite activities was sitting in the laps of fucked up happy hippies, stroking their hair and reminding them that they will die alone, and nothing they ever have done, or will do, will matter to anyone in anyway. While dressed like a rainbow! DOOM PONY. I had been offering horrible renditions of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Then it got dark, and I had this beautiful moment of OH MY GOD DO YOU PEOPLE KNOW WHAT I AM???

I thought it was hilarious. I really, really did. Too meta for the hippies, though.

Screwnicorn. The end.
